Please join me in my 40 days of zoom room as much or as little benefits you. Sit in the space and draw, or write, or dance, or weave, or cook, or lay on the floor, or sway a little bit, or cry, scream, drink coffee, be with your friend, your lover, your family member, a cat, a bird, be with the night sky, stare at your favorite picture, lean on a tree, whatever gives you a feeling of support, clarity, and capacity to be with your broken heartedness. Repetition is a magic law of life. I encourage you to allow yourself room to find the rhythms and repeating gestures that support you. Be intentional. Go at your own pace. Trust your process.

2 years ago, I gave myself the gift of undertaking a 40 day grief sadhana, a practice that is offered in this beloved book by michelle cassandra johnson. What began as excruciating became my favorite part of the day. Truly, my practice became a refuge.

It became clear that by giving space to some of my most difficult emotions, I found all kinds of complexity. I hadn’t realized what was behind, underneath, and inside these feelings. The insight I experienced amazed me and I began to experience loving compassion. It was such a profound experience of shifting my releationship with grief that I want to introduce you to this concept of a 40 day grief sadhana, and to encourage you to create your own unique container for a grief practice. I will share with you one of my approaches - SINGING.
